Our company's Pharmaceutical Sciences organization translates molecules to medicines, working from the discovery interface through registration stability manufacturing by designing, developing and scaling-up the formulation, device, and manufacturing process. Driving drug product design from the bench top to the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing facilities, our Scientists use cutting edge science to transform drug delivery and manufacturing technology to positively impact patients. The successful candidate will be a passionate Scientist with strong academic fundamentals and a drive to develop new medicines to improve human health. In this role, the individual will be responsible for supporting the formulation development of new chemical entities as part of a matrix team from initial first in human formulations (suspensions, solutions, capsules, tablets) through final market formulation definition and manufacturing process robustness assessment. Additional responsibilities are as follows: * Develops and applies basic principles and scientific concepts to execute work in a laboratory or pilot plant environment to advance new solid oral drug products. * Capability to support manufacturing operations in non-GMP and GMP environments. * Executes routine experiments and data interpretation with appropriate technical guidance. * Ability to operate and trouble shoot equipment and processes. * Capable of learning practical laboratory/pilot plant skills and fundamental scientific principles to utilize as part of their daily responsibilities. * Can understand overall project timelines to manage prioritization of individual contributor deliverables with appropriate supervision. * Works well with others in collaborative team environments. * Builds awareness of relevant new and current technologies to grow as a pharmaceutical scientist. Education Minimum Requirement: * B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline (expected no later than June 2025). PROCESS PROJECT ENGINEER - SLC This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT Job Description Thatcher Company is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Salt Lake facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing existing chemical processes to ensure efficient production and adherence to safety and environmental standards. As well as design and implement new processes as needed. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance company safety, production capabilities and product quality. Primary Responsibilities * Safety Focus: Promote safety in all aspects of operations to improve the safety record at this facility and throughout the company; includes work performed by contractors. * Process Design & Optimization: Develop and optimize chemical processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability. * Support: Provide support for daily production activities by monitoring process performance, trouble-shooting problems, ordering replacement parts and as needed, implementing corrective actions. * Continuous Improvement: Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to plant processes and operating procedures. * Project Management: Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to execution, including cost estimation, equipment sizing and specifying, permitting, and scheduling. * Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes comply with industry regulations and standards, including safety, health, and environmental guidelines. * Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot process issues and improve workflows. * Documentation: Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID), process flow diagrams (PFD's), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to proper management of change (MOC) procedures. * Training & Support: Provide technical support and training to operational staff on process and equipment usage. * Incident Investigation: Participate in the investigation and corrective actions efforts for your assigned manufacturing processes. Other Duties as Assigned: Perform all other assigned duties or duties outlined in relevant SOPs. Required Qualifications * A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related fields. * 0-5 years of experience in industrial Process-Engineering and/or Project Engineering. * Excellent problem-solving skill and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. * Familiarity with safety standards and regulations. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to size and specify equipment. * Basic knowledge and experience with PSM and RMP procedures. Desired Qualifications Experience with any of the following software's AutoCAD LT, Fathom, Arrow, Mathcad, Python, VBA * Permitting and construction experience. * Process controls experience.
