The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) is looking to hire river restoration professionals based out of the Columbia-Pacific Northwest Regional Office in Boise, Idaho, and another in John Day, OR. Reclamation contributes to the implementation of salmonid habitat improvement projects to help meet commitments contained in Biological Opinions. We are seeking passionate, knowledgeable, hardworking people that can add to our groups' skills and abilities - people who are open minded, willing to learn, and excited to help continue our successful history of project implementation. The incumbents will provide technical, engineering, contracting, or program-level oversight on river restoration projects throughout the intermountain Pacific Northwest. Both the Tributary Habitat Program (THP) and the River Systems and Restoration (RSR) Group are seeking multiple Civil Engineers. The work will vary by group and position. Within the Tributary Habitat Program (generally more policy/program/planning level) there are two or more positions to be filled. * Habitat Engineer (multiple positions) - working with project partners across the PNW, supporting technical aspects of projects, developing project priorities and budgets, contracting, and other tasks. * John Day Liaison - working with local project partners in John Day, OR, becoming an expert in the basin, developing budgets and project priorities, contracting, supporting construction activities and implementation and other tasks. The River Systems and Restoration Group is design and technical work focused. The positions entail designing, implementing, and monitoring large- and small-scale river restoration projects to benefit juvenile salmonids. Field work may include site assessment, data collection, surveying, discharge measurements, and construction observation. Office work typically includes developing topo-bathymetric surface models, hydrologic analysis, hydraulic modeling, river channel and habitat structure design, streambed sediment design, drafting in AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS analyses, and reporting.
