PDX Pharmaceuticals currently has openings for “Research Assistants” or "Research Associates". The candidate will be part of a pre-clinical research program to develop nanoparticle-based targeted- and immuno- therapeutics for treating cancers (see our technology and product pipeline).The project is currently supported by funding from the National Institute of Health’s National Cancer Institute (NCI). The candidate will work on joint research projects between PDX Pharmaceuticals and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)’s department of Biomedical Engineering. He/she will assist the team with day-to-day research and administrative operation, including nanoparticle synthesis, optimization, and characterization; batch experiments, molecular assays, cell culture, animal (mouse) handling/experiments, and literature review. The candidate will also be involved in coordinating GMP-compliant manufacturing of our lead drug candidate, IND-enabling studies, and interaction with the FDA. Although direct relevant research experience is a big plus, it is not a requirement. Candidates are however expected to learn fast, be detail-oriented, responsible, and hard-working (okay with working occasional long hours to meet deadline). This position is appropriate for new/recent graduates who look to learn, obtain more experience for a couple of years in biomedical research in a start-up/academic environment prior to graduate schools or other research jobs. Growth within the company is also promoted, if desired. The City of Albany, Oregon, has one opening for the summer of 2024 for a GIS intern. The position will split time between the GIS department and Water Quality Services. Work will consist of assisting the GIS department in day-to-day operation and maintaining stormwater GIS databases and collecting field data. The position provides opportunities in professional growth and mentorship, foundational GIS technical skills, exposure to GIS technology and data processing techniques. Responsibilities: * Collaborate with a team on a variety of GIS projects * Design, create, analyze and maintain citywide GIS databases and datasets * Create effective and easy to read maps using ArcGIS software for paper and the web * Help develop geoprocessing automation models using related GIS software tools to update, maintain and analyze databases to ensure spatial integrity * Collect data in the field using ArcGIS mobile data collection tools * Manipulate geospatial data with great attention to detail and efficiency * Help provide technical GIS assistance to GIS users at the city * Assist in the implementation of MS4/TMDL programs. * Safely wade in streams and storm channels, traverse stream, and creek banks. * Navigate difficult terrain including creeks, streams, up and down stream banks, etc. * Perform duties as necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position. * Comply with Safety Requirements including wearing proper safety equipment as required by OSHA and City policy. Qualifications: * Must be accepted with intent to enroll or enrolled in a full time College or University program. Preferred major in Environmental Science, Geography, GIS, Hydrology/Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or other science field. * Must have a valid driver's license. * Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer substance abuse test and background investigation. Period of Employment: This is a temporary position, 40 hours max per week, not to exceed 12 weeks. Start and end date are between June 1 and September 30, 2024. You can expect a weekly workload ranging between 30-40 hours/week. The work schedule is weekday, but also will include occasional early morning starts. All work performed during daylight hours. Compensation: $18-$21/hour dependent on skills and experience 75% of the time you will be in the office: You will be extensively using environmental mapping tools such as topographic maps, digital maps, mapping software and database applications. A working knowledge of ArcGIS software, familiarity with raster and vector data, and Aerial image interpretation will make you stand out! 25% of the time you will spend in the field: You will assist the water quality team in collecting spatial data and conducting storm sewer outfall inventory (Outfall Reconnaissance Inventory (ORI)), as part of the City's Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program.
