[cid:image005.png@01DB9715.01F8C6B0] Update on our goal: After week 2, we are happy to announce that we have made 3213 meals out of 9000! Thank you to everyone for your support to us and Linn-Benton Food Share!! Last year in 2024, our department raised funds equivalent to 8,432 meals for the Linn-Benton Food Share and this year we are raising our goal to 9000 meals. Come support our department as we try to meet our goal this year and since this is seen as a competition throughout the university, the more support the better! Food has the power to heal us, to connect us, to make us stronger. Food solves hunger today by filling plates with nutritious meals. This year the need is greater than ever, and with your help, we can fight hunger! The rising cost of food and housing has increased food insecurity in Oregon, Southwest Washington and across the country. Last year, the Oregon Food Bank Network saw 1.9 million visits to food assistance sites - a 14% increase from the previous year. Food insecurity disproportionately affects specific communities in Oregon, regardless of geography. Today, 1 in 8 people face hunger in rural, urban, and suburban communities throughout the state.
