How do we craft important policy statements for advancing knowledge and support of our innovations? You are specially invited to join this spring's "Marine Policy in the United States," PPOL448 (CRN 54009) and PPOL548 (CRN 54010). The course is 4 credits. Anyone interested should sign up as soon as possible. We have a nice interdisciplinary group of 24 currently, a size which promotes deep learning and significantly enhances meaningful discussion and the formation of a supportive, active learning community. Description: This course introduces students to the history, rationale, achievements, and gaps in American ocean policy. Students will learn the full policy cycle, acquire foundational tools of policy analysis and problem solving, and will synthesize and apply their knowledge creatively to proposals for integrated policy solutions to specific contemporary marine issues. There is no final examination, no required text book, and no prerequisites. We work hard, improve our research, analysis and writing skills, and often form lasting friendships in this course. Looking forward to having your important perspectives in the group.
