Come support our department as we try to meet our goal this year and since this is seen as a competition throughout the university, the more support the better! Food has the power to heal us, to connect us, to make us stronger. Food solves hunger today by filling plates with nutritious meals. This year the need is greater than ever and, with your help, we can fight hunger! The rising cost of food and housing has increased food insecurity in Oregon, Southwest Washington and across the country. Last year, the Oregon Food Bank Network saw 1.9 million visits to food assistance sites - a 14% increase from the previous year. Food insecurity disproportionately affects specific communities in Oregon, regardless of geography. Today, 1 in 8 people face hunger in rural, urban, and suburban communities throughout the state.
