Understanding Special Hiring Authorities
Special
hiring authorities, or special hiring paths, help agencies hire individuals that represent targeted groups who can use a particular authority to be eligible to apply to positions or become more highly ranked among applicants.
Some of the more common special hiring authorities used for U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service careers include preference for veterans, current federal employees, students and recent graduates (i.e.
Pathways), and individuals with disabilities.
Review
the full list of hiring paths, descriptions of each, and how they can be used.
