Are you a current student passionate about advancing your career in the field of River Restoration? Do you want to learn from the experts, network with peers, and help run a conference? If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be eligible for RRNW’s Internship Program.

 

The RRNW Internship Program was established to provide a unique opportunity for students to attend the annual RRNW Symposium, which will take place February 4-6, 2025 at Skamania Lodge, WA. RRNW will cover the full cost of registration, lodging, and meals for the duration of the symposium. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to $500.

 

RRNW has 4 intern positions available each year. Applications are now open and will close September 20th, 2024. More information, including how to apply, can be found on our website.

Are you a river restoration professional interested in attending the 2025 RRNW Annual Symposium? Do you work for a non-profit, tribe or First Nation, or resource conservation district? Do you belong to an underrepresented community in this field? If so, you may be eligible for the Peter Klingeman Scholarship Program.

The Klingeman Scholarship Program  is a unique opportunity for individuals from under represented communities to attend the RRNW Symposium, which will take place February 4-6, 2025 at Skamania Lodge, WA. The scholarship covers the full cost of registration and meals for the duration of the symposium. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to $500 and lodging is covered for the 2-nights of the symposium.

Foundational Facilitation Skills

 

River Restoration Northwest is pleased to offer two-day training on foundational facilitation skills and relevant parts of the Liberating Structures repertoire. This training aims to develop participants’ essential facilitation skills and expand their repertoire of activities for leading groups.

Instructor: Maggie Chumbley
Dates: October 23-24, 2024, 9am – 4 pm both days, with a check-in/meet and greet coffee hour at 8:15 am.
Format: In-Person
Location: Downtown Vancouver, WA, at the West Park Community Meeting Space
Size limit:  35 registrants
Cost: $540 for the two days and will not include lunch (students will be free to choose from downtown eateries)

 

Additional Note: September/Early Oct Zoom call with 3-5 interested participants attending the training to co-design/tailor specific scope and context, outcomes and schedule.

RRNW is partnering with The Portland State Environmental Professional Program (PSU EPP) to offer two hydraulic modeling courses this fall.

 

EPP 234 - HEC-RAS Steady Open Channel Flow Modeling Emphasizing Stream Restoration
Instructor: Gary Wolf, PE, D.WRE, CFM
Dates: October 1-4, 2024
Format: In-Person
Location: McMenamin’s Kennedy School. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Cost: $900

 

EPP 501 - Hydraulics Analysis using HEC-RAS 2D
Instructor: Chris Goodell, PE, M. Eng.
Dates: October 7-9, 2024
Format: In-Person
Location: McMenamin’s Kennedy School. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Cost: $800

 

These hydraulic courses can be taken stand alone or can be used to meet the requirements for the River Restoration Certificate or the Advanced River Restoration Certificate. They can also be taken in sequence. There are no prerequisites for either course.
