We are on Week 6 of the Water Resources Science Spring Seminar Series. This week is "Past, Present, and Future of the National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS)" being presented by Dr. Amanda Nahlik, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at 4:00pm in Burt Hall 193 or via the zoom link<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Foregonstate.zoom.us%2Fj%2F92408942009%3Fpwd%3DUFLwbbjTBEqSlJPWiZAb54qYU61EH4.1%23success&data=05%7C02%7Cecoe-ungrads%40lists.engr.oregonstate.edu%7C3f6c160c97e041d2f7ca08dd930b6b05%7Cce6d05e13c5e4d6287a84c4a2713c113%7C0%7C0%7C638828399429359966%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=td9HXqg5U4nzgrODr0%2FBMlBahVihbgy6praAwikE7CA%3D&reserved=0> (zoom password WRS2025). For questions or concerns, contact knutscas@oregonstate.edu<mailto:knutscas@oregonstate.edu>. Dr. Amanda M. Nahlik is a wetland ecologist at the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (U.S. EPA) Office of Research and Development in Corvallis. She has advanced the understanding how anthropogenic disturbances, including climate change, affect wetland biogeochemistry across regional and national scales. She is the Technical Science Lead of the U.S. EPA's National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) program, under which annual, field-based condition assessments of U.S. aquatic resources are conducted in lakes, rivers and streams, coasts and estuaries, and wetlands. Amanda has a Ph.D. (2009) and an M.S. (2005) from Dr. William J. Mitsch's wetland laboratory at The Ohio State University, and a B.A. (2002) from Kenyon College. Over her career, Dr. Nahlik has published extensively on different aspects of wetland and aquatic ecology - including water quality improvement, carbon storage, greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystem services, and development of indicators and metrics of wetland ecosystem condition.
