BEE Awards Banquet: Join us for dinner in a celebration for our department. We will present awards, scholarships, and our achievements, and we would love for all our students to join. It will take place Thursday, May 9th, at 5:30 P.M. in the MU Horizon Room. Please use this survey to RSVP and state which meal option you would prefer. We hope to see you all there.

Gilmore Hall Student Showcase Bulletin Board

 

At BEE, we love to showcase all the hard work that our students are putting into their academics and careers. So, we are constructing a bulletin board in Gilmore Hall that will display all of the experiences that our students have had. This may include internships, study abroad, or research programs.

Become a Peer Mentor: Beaver Connect is looking for Peer Mentors for 2024-2025 mentoring teams at the Corvallis campus! This program matches you with a faculty member to co-mentor a group of 3-4 new-to-OSU students. Together, you’ll lead crucial discussions on navigating college, achieving success, and getting more out of the OSU experience. This is a paid position that will allow you to make connections with faculty and peers and develop resume-building leadership skills! CWI Clean Water Showcase: OSU’s Clean Water Initiative (CWI) is organizing the 2024 Clean Water Showcase to highlight research in clean water technology at OSU, and host world-renowned invited presenters working on the latest in this rapidly evolving field. The Showcase is on Wednesday, May 22, 9 AM to 6 PM, at LaSells Stewart Center. An online option is available for virtual attendees, and the doors open at 8 AM. Register Now. Social Anxiety Support Group for CoE Students: A 6-week social anxiety support group that will be running during weeks 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. You can expect a safe, confidential, and understanding environment where you will explore the roots of social anxiety, enhance communication skills, and learn practical strategies to manage social anxiety. Engineering Expo: The 2024 Engineering Expo will feature interactive design project displays created and hosted by more than 1,200 senior engineering students. Project topics cover the breadth of engineering challenges, including robotics, clean water, nuclear energy, virtual reality, construction innovation and much more. 11 a.m.-4 p.m., June 7. Meditation Drop-in Classes: At Marigold: quiet meditation  8-8:40 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; guided meditation from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Free guided meditation  6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays via Zoom. In quiet meditation, we practice self-guided meditation in community with time for individual preparation and a closing dedication. Peer Tutoring: The College of Engineering and College of Science offer free peer tutoring for a wide variety of courses. Check this webpage for more information and schedules - https://engineering.oregonstate.edu/current-students/academic-support.

 

Printing: The College of Engineering Information Technology no longer offers poster printing services. Large format printing requests should be directed to the OSU Media Hub. Students are allowed to print one poster per assignment, conference, research project, etc. If you’re planning on utilizing this service, then remember to submit your requests in advance since printing requests have a 48-hour lead time.

 

Free student contraceptive care: Want free contraceptive care? Oregon ContraceptiveCare (CCare) is a program funded through a grant from the Centers for Medicaid Services and the Oregon Department of Human Services that allows Student Health Services (SHS) to provide free reproductive health care and contraceptive services to OSU students with certain income criteria. Most students qualify. Sign up for CCare by calling SHS at 541-737-9140.

OSU Assist: Mobile Crisis Response OSU Assist is a multi-disciplinary support team that provides compassionate mobile crisis response and wraparound services for students facing mental health challenges or experiencing other forms of distress. This team brings together new personnel and existing university services to support students facing challenges. By calling 911 or 541-737-7000, OSU Assist will be dispatched in crisis situations that meet certain criteria. This could include instances of suicide ideation, substance abuse issues, survivors seeking support and welfare checks. The team provides serve on the Corvallis campus from Wednesday through Sunday, 1 p.m. to 1 a.m., with hours anticipated to expand in future terms. For more information on this service, visit our website, contact Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Care Services Aubrie Piper or attend one of the informational sessions noted below.

Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU App

This app gives all OSU students, including Ecampus students, 24/7 access by text or phone with a licensed mental health counselor (MySSP stands for “My Student Support Program”). The app makes it easy to schedule short-term counseling appointments with the same ongoing counselor and provides educational materials covering mental health topics. Students can communicate with a counselor in five different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish or English); additional language options are available upon request. Students can download the Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU and learn more about the service at beav.es/anytimeanywhere. For questions, please contact Bonnie Hemrick, Director of Mental Health Promotion.

 

Togetherall: A new mental health resource for OSU students. Togetherall is a safe and anonymous online community where students can share about what they are feeling and get support to improve mental health and well-being. Eat Free: @eatfreeosu is a Twitter account managed by the Human Services Resource Center student team. This account broadcasts information about open events on campus that also have food available. If your event is closed, but you have extra food, a message can be crafted asking students to show up at the end of your event. Event organizers can tag @eatfreeosu or call 541-737-3747 during business hours to request their event be posted on the account.
