The SUS double degree program is hosting an event
about the Coffin Butte landfill expansion in Week 10. I’ve attached a flyer (as well as some supporting documents).
Please share with students as you see fit.
Landfills touch on many sustainability issues—the linear economy, waste prevention and management, environmental toxins, environmental justice, etc., and all of us have a responsibility
to contemplate where our waste goes.

Learn more in conversation with Mark Yaeger, environmental engineer and Benton County resident, who has extensive knowledge and experience regarding Coffin Butte landfill.
He will present a brief history of the landfill, describe its current and long-term impacts, and provide information on the proposed expansion.
