Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Marys River or Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya.  Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty),  Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon (https://www.grandronde.org) and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians (http://ctsi.nsn.us).

Dear students,

Looking for an exciting way to enhance your undergraduate experience? Consider joining our Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEU) program! This USDA-funded opportunity combines undergraduate research, professional development, and a life-changing service-learning trip to Puerto Rico over spring break (March 21-30, 2025).

Program Benefits:

• $5,000 stipend (can be used to offset the estimated $4,000 cost of the Puerto Rico trip)
• Hands-on undergraduate research experience (Winter/Spring 2025)
• Professional development and mentorship

Eligibility:

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident

• OSU student in good standing with full-time enrollment
• Commit to 200 hours of research (~10 hours/week)
• Currently involved in an undergraduate research project or willing to start one in Winter 2025
• Interest in service-learning and ability to participate in Puerto Rico study abroad trip
• Preference given to students from underserved populations
