Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Marys River or Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly
removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon (https://www.grandronde.org)
and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians (http://ctsi.nsn.us).

Subject: IMPORTANT: FAFSA/ORSA/ScholarDollars Information
Importance: High
Good morning –
Please take a moment to read the information below. I encourage ALL students to submit their FAFSA and the ORSA if appropriate. Additionally, don’t forget
to apply for scholarships through OSU ScholarDollars. Even if you don’t *think* you’ll get a scholarship, still
APPLY! You can’t be considered if you don’t submit an application.
The
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2024-2025 will open by December 31stt. By submitting the FAFSA, a student will be considered for federal, state, and institutional need-based grants and federal student loans. Some grants have
limited funding, so the earlier a student submits their FAFSA, the better chance they have to receive those first-come-first-served grants.
Oregon residents who are not eligible to file a FAFSA may submit the
Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) to be considered for need-based state grants. Submitting the 2024-2025 ORSAA application early will increase a student’s chances of receiving some of the limited funding that is available.
Even if a student doesn’t think they qualify for need-based grants or aren’t planning on accepting any student loans, OSU encourages all students to submit a FAFSA/ORSAA anyway. Many OSU
scholarships have a financial need requirement and the information from the FAFSA/ORSAA is used to determine eligibility for those scholarships. If we don’t have that information on record, students will be automatically excluded from consideration for
those need-based scholarships. Students are not required to accept any student loans offered to them, so there is no obligation by submitting the FAFSA/ORSAA.
Kind regards,
Khrystal
