2024 Summer Intern - Cell Therapy Process Engineer Department Summary In this position, you will need to work effectively as part of a team responsible for furthering the frontier of cell therapies. This will require the application of technical and strategic expertise in science, engineering, and process knowledge to support the production of licensed therapies and pipeline products, as well as enable new technologies. This internship position is located in HILLSBORO, Oregon Key Responsibilities * Learn various cell culture techniques, including feeding, freezing, thawing, and harvesting, using proper aseptic techniques as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) * Execute a hands-on study in the MSAT lab to support process understanding and improve operations on the floor * Collaborate cross functionally with Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing teams to design and execute the experiment and interpret the data. * Draft a study report and communicate final results to the project stakeholders. * Participate in team meetings and shadow on-the-floor manufacturing activities. * Support MSAT data management and documentation. Program Highlights * Intensive 10-12 weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship. * Program start dates are in May/June. * Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. * Work with cutting edge technology in the biotechnology industry. * Final presentations of project work to senior leaders. * Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions. * Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities. Who You Are * Third or fourth year Bachelor's student in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology or STEM equivalent. * Laboratory skills: wet lab skills, aseptic technique, and/or cell culture. * The ability to work independently under limited supervision. * High level of demonstrated initiative, exhibit flexibility in work approach, and demonstrate strong follow through and accountability. * Must be able to work on a team with diverse skills and objectives. * Good communication and technical writing skills.
