Your Role at Lazarus 3D Lazarus 3D is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant/Associate Research Scientist with a background in chemistry, lab biology, material science, or a related field to join our team. As an R&D Assistant/Associate Scientist, you will design experiments and conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of various materials that will ultimately be used to produce realistic, human tissue-simulating models and medical devices. The work encompasses research and development of new materials, products, processes, process and quality control, maintenance of environmental standards, and other activities involving the experimental and practical application of polymer chemistry, material testing, and related sciences. Qualifications and Critical Skills/Expertise: ● The candidate will have a B.S. in a scientific/technical discipline (e.g. organic chemistry, biochemistry) plus 0-3 years of hands-on lab experience for the assistant Scientist position, or 2-5 years of experience for the Associate Scientist position, or equivalent experience. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative, positive attitude. ● Experience with Excel and data analysis. ● Experience working in project teams for basic projects or a single complex project. ● Experience conducting research and/or laboratory skills. ● Knowledge of experimental design and statistical tools. ● Experience with acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting data. ● Previous knowledge of GLP or ISO standards is a plus. ● Experience with elastomeric materials and polymers is helpful, but not mandatory. ● Knowledge or experience in technology transfer is a plus. What you’ll do: ● Support our vision and mission: To improve patient surgical outcomes. ● Independently designs and conducts experiments, summarizes and analyzes data, interprets results, and draws conclusions. ● Prepares chemical solutions for prototypes or processes following test formulas, or creates experimental formulas. ● Presents scientific observations to the R&D team. ● Develops new production processes, test methods, and validation techniques. ● Possesses strong research acumen, including the ability to conduct thorough literature reviews, analyze relevant materials, and synthesize findings to inform decision-making processes. ● Adheres to protocols and quality standards to ensure experiment consistency. ● Sets up, maintains, or cleans laboratory instruments or equipment. Autoclave experience is a plus. ● Ensures adequate supplies to perform assigned tasks. ● Learn and adapt quickly to changing needs and demands. ● Willingness to grow and expand your skill set. ● Identifies technical alternatives. ● Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality results. ● Responsible for project completion. ● Accurately document work. ● Works independently, anticipating workflow while coordinating activities. ● Embrace Lazarus 3D’s core values. ● Comply with Lazarus 3D’s Quality System. ● Other duties as assigned. Equipment: Standard lab equipment such as stir plate, balances, micropipettes, and chemical fume hood. Working Environment & Physical Requirements: Approximately 80% of the time will involve work in the lab and 20% office work. this position involves duties in areas requiring PPE (including gloves and safety glasses).
