Position Summary: The Quality Engineer interfaces with the operation groups in a high-tech, fast paced organization that may require a forward-face to external customers and auditors with the goal to maximize customer satisfaction and company image through proactive facilitation of continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible to both resolve and prevent material and administrative quality related problems throughout optimization and all relevant systems within the Business Unit. Based on work experience the level of this position ranges from entry level to very experienced. Decision-Making: 1. Evaluate internal systems and develop improvement projects to improve the Business Unit quality performance. 2. Determine the adequacy of various improvement systems for protection against misprocessing. 3. Determine when and to what extent to involve external stakeholders in product quality issues. 4. Identify necessary participants to review and decide the quality status of materials in question. Facilitate final decisions of product acceptability. 5. Determine effectiveness of management and support oriented processes at the local and global level to ensure compliance with the requirements of IATF 16949, International Management System (IMS), Customer Specific requirements (CSA), and local and international documents. Essential Function/Major Responsibilities: 1. Interact with internal and external customers on quality related issues, and work to resolve internal issues quickly. Monitor and ensure proper activities surrounding all aspects of the product are successful including technical parameters, batch integrity, packaging, shipment requirements, CofC, etc. 3. Utilize existing data and feedback systems in a high-paced manufacturing environment to review batches, track genealogies with special focus product conformance prior to shipment. Implement data-based decision-making. 4. Facilitate root cause analysis, containment measures and solutions using core quality tools with sound project management. 4. Establish internal quality projects to reduce internal failures thus improving yield, on-time shipment, cycle time, variation, and operating costs. Monitor and control the execution of assigned project tasks. 5. Review customer specifications and data and ensure acceptability and traceability. 6. Evaluate and prepare capability data reports for customer presentations that may also include off site visits. 7. Drive cross-site project closure that which may require international travel. 8. Communicate quality status and customer needs to the affected Business Unit. 9. May provide face-to-face responses to customers, requiring domestic travel. 10. Evaluate sample plans for effectiveness. (secondary) 11. Provide quality training as appropriate. (secondary) Position Requirements: 1. BS degree in engineering, science, math, business, or equivalent. 2. Minimum one (1) year experience in Quality Engineering or a closely-related field utilizing root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, sampling, and auditing. 3. Able to work efficiently within at fast-paced environment and demonstrate sound time-management skills as priorities change. 4. Thorough knowledge or capability to learn company Quality Management System, and semiconductor customer and international quality standards. 5. Expert knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database software packages. Experience with manufacturing information and data systems. 6. Highly effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate to key business customers and internal management.
