How will you make an impact? We are seeking a highly motivated lab manager with exceptional organizational and communication skills to join the Biology R&D group within the Biosciences Division (BID). In this position, you will be part of a team of 20 scientists engaged in the development of novel technologies and tools for the study of cellular and molecular processes via fluorescence-based platforms such as flow cytometry, microscopy, and microplate readers. In this role, you will support daily R&D operations to ensure the team has the infrastructure, equipment, materials, and processes in place for an efficient and safe work environment. What will you do? · Coordinate with Facilities and Quality Assurance (QA) teams the calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, management of service contracts, on-site service visits, and capital equipment procurement and certification. · Responsible for the maintenance of the tissue culture and flow cytometry core facilities ensuring reagents are stocked, space well organized, and instruments are always accurately calibrated and functional. · Coordinate tracking, ordering, and stocking of inventory, shipping and receiving, and general lab support activities (annual pipette calibrations, space management activities, etc.). · Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) on safety compliance through management of chemical and biohazardous materials, appropriate follow-up on safety audit findings, and safety committee representation. · Support supervisory team on budget request proposals and management of approved budgets. · Conduct laboratory experiments, analyze data, and present findings under the supervision of lead scientists in support of ongoing research projects. How will you get there? Education and Experience BS in life sciences, cell biology or related field with proven experience. Knowledge, Skills, and abilities · Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail · Ability to multitask and function in a multidimensional, fast-paced, team environment · Proficiency with basic software packages, including Microsoft Office · Effective communication and social skills · Experience working in BSL2 laboratory environments · Comfortable working with and troubleshooting lab equipment · Ability to follow all EHS guidelines in the laboratory environment · Ability to find opportunities of improvement to improve laboratory function, safety, and efficiency Working conditions Majority of work will be completed in a laboratory environment. Candidate may be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties and will need to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
