
Otak is seeking a Summer Intern to join our Water and Natural Resources team in our Portland, OR office. As a multidisciplinary design firm, we are dedicated to enhancing essential infrastructure and restoring the natural environment. Our team partners with communities across the region on a diverse range of municipal and private projects. As an intern, you will have exposure to projects related to master planning, urban stormwater retrofits, stormwater treatment, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (pipes and open channels), roadway and site drainage, flood hazard mitigation, and river, stream, and wetland restoration. Our scientists and engineers specialize in ecology, wetland science, water quality, wildlife biology, fluvial geomorphology, botany, aquatic biology, and fisheries-offering you a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts known for their innovative solutions and commitment to client service. What You'll Do Collect and analyze data. * Support design efforts for site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. * Assist in preparing construction plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D. * Assist with quantity takeoffs and the preparation of construction cost estimates. * Apply AutoCAD and/or GIS skills to create supporting figures/design documents. * Assist with construction support services. What You Bring * Current college junior, senior, or graduate level student pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. * Strong academic performance and a passion for water resources and environmental engineering. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus. * A well-rounded background, with engagement in academic, professional, and community activities.
