OSU Energy Efficiency Center Paid Job Opportunity - Apply by 02/01 for priority consideration The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy/technical analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-12 hrs/week) and during the summer (30-40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. It is a great way to see many different industrial processes and learn about ways to save energy. The TTM Engineering Internship Program is geared toward conscientious Engineering juniors who are going into their senior year of college. Participating in one of our internships is also invaluable in establishing a network within the company. The summer associate program objective is to prepare participants for a possible future career in the Service organization with Medtronic as a Clinical Specialist. Position Summary: The Quality Engineer interfaces with the operation groups in a high-tech, fast paced organization that may require a forward-face to external customers and auditors with the goal to maximize customer satisfaction and company image through proactive facilitation of continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible to both resolve and prevent material and administrative quality related problems throughout optimization and all relevant systems within the Business Unit. Determine the adequacy of various improvement systems for protection against misprocessing. 3. Determine when and to what extent to involve external stakeholders in product quality issues. 4. Identify necessary participants to review and decide the quality status of materials in question. Facilitate final decisions of product acceptability. 5. Determine effectiveness of management and support oriented processes at the local and global level to ensure compliance with the requirements of IATF 16949, International Management System (IMS), Customer Specific requirements (CSA), and local and international documents. Essential Function/Major Responsibilities: 1. Interact with internal and external customers on quality related issues, and work to resolve internal issues quickly. Monitor and ensure proper activities surrounding all aspects of the product are successful including technical parameters, batch integrity, packaging, shipment requirements, CofC, etc. 3. Utilize existing data and feedback systems in a high-paced manufacturing environment to review batches, track genealogies with special focus product conformance prior to shipment. Implement data-based decision-making. 4. Facilitate root cause analysis, containment measures and solutions using core quality tools with sound project management. 4. Establish internal quality projects to reduce internal failures thus improving yield, on-time shipment, cycle time, variation, and operating costs. Monitor and control the execution of assigned project tasks. 5. Review customer specifications and data and ensure acceptability and traceability. 6. Evaluate and prepare capability data reports for customer presentations that may also include off site visits. 7. Drive cross-site project closure that which may require international travel. 8. Communicate quality status and customer needs to the affected Business Unit. 9. May provide face-to-face responses to customers, requiring domestic travel. 10. Evaluate sample plans for effectiveness. (secondary) 11. Provide quality training as appropriate. (secondary) Position Requirements: 1. BS degree in engineering, science, math, business, or equivalent. 2. Minimum one (1) year experience in Quality Engineering or a closely-related field utilizing root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, sampling, and auditing. 3. Able to work efficiently within at fast-paced environment and demonstrate sound time-management skills as priorities change. 4. Thorough knowledge or capability to learn company Quality Management System, and semiconductor customer and international quality standards. 5. Expert knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database software packages. Experience with manufacturing information and data systems. 6. Highly effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate to key business customers and internal management. Job Summary: Biomotum is a rehabilitation robotics company searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to help develop our wearable robotic assistance medical devices. Our goal is to transform the treatment of movement disorders to improve the lives of people all over the world. The successful candidate will work with a team of engineers and external partners to bring our assistive technology to the market. Responsibilities: - Partner with teammates to establish user and product requirements (e.g., user needs, design inputs, and design outputs) and design, develop, and test electro-mechanical systems in partnership with internal and external teammates. - Create technical architecture, engineering designs, physical prototypes, and documentation to effectively communicate concepts/designs to manufacturers and teammates. - Develop, plan, perform, and document design verification and validation testing. - Utilize graphical, mathematical, and other appropriate communication methodologies to share results & make recommendations for product and process improvements. - Establish and maintain Device Records and Design History Files. - Participate in root cause analysis investigations and reporting in support of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs), complaints, and nonconformances. - Plan and complete product risk management activities (e.g., risk identification, assessment, and mitigation) with the goals of reducing patient risk as far as possible and ensuring product benefits outweigh patient risk. - Develop, plan, implement, and document medical device usability activities (e.g., user interface specification development, summative evaluations) with the goal of creating a safe device that can be used without use errors that result in significant patient risk. - Evaluate effectiveness, manufacturability, reliability, safety, and cost of product and process designs. Interface with and oversee part and subassembly suppliers. - Assist with sustaining engineering efforts for products with current customers. - Clearly document manufacturing and servicing work instructions & train technicians. - Attain and maintain training to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. What you will need: - General design/engineering and knowledge - able to communicate effectively and understand how technical teams' tasks fit together. - A desire to find a solution to problems and create the greatest product for Biomotum's customers. - A first-principles, systems-thinking approach to finding solutions to problems. - A strong desire to work as a team. Qualifications: - B.S. in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field). - Experience implementing structured root cause analyses. - Experience creating scientifically valid experimental design and performing statistical assessment. - Minimum 2 years experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceutical, aerospace). - Demonstrated knowledge of and experience applying requirements of 21 CFR 820, ISO 14971, IEC 62366-1, and ISO 13485 and tor the development of medical devices preferred. - Experience in Solid Works part design and assemblies. - Propensity to proactively prioritize, initiate, and drive your own work to meet established timelines and business goals. - Knowledge of how to apply engineering fundamentals and statistical assessment to ensure product quality, reliability and patient safety. - Excellent written and oral communication. - Experience creating documentation that is acceptable to regulatory agencies. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: * Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field. * Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in chemistry or medicinal chemistry laboratory. * The applicant must be familiar with different methods of purification of small organic molecules using common chromatographic methods e.g., ion exchange, size exclusion. RESPONSIBILITIES: Production, isolation and purification of gadusol and related sunscreen compounds Preparing microbiological media for the culturing of sunscreen-producing microorganisms, culturing the organisms, and purifying the sunscreen compounds from the culture using chromatographic methods, and standard analyses to assess purity and integrity Regular weekly meetings with the senior scientist will be held to discuss progress, problems and their resolution, and ideas to make process improvements. Attendance at other staff meetings will be expected. Responsible for routine lab maintenance that will involve keeping up-to-date laboratory records, ordering supplies, organizing inventory, cleaning and maintaining instrumentation and glassware. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: A minimum associate's degree or 2 years of postsecondary education in chemistry and currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field. Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in chemistry or medicinal chemistry laboratory. Serán seeks to hire an entry-level Scientist or Engineer to contribute to pharmaceutical R&D projects in the general area of drug delivery formulation and manufacturing processes. Candidates should possess a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, biological engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or physics. Demonstrated research experience is desirable. Candidates with additional relevant experience are also invited to apply. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team to develop innovative technical capabilities for the company and support the deployment of these capabilities on programs for Serán's clients. The role will require both strong hands-on laboratory skills and the ability to apply fundamental scientific principles to define and solve open-ended problems. Data analysis and technical communication are also important components of the desired skill set.
