Otak is seeking a Summer Intern to join our Water and Natural Resources team in our Portland, OR office. As a multidisciplinary design firm, we are dedicated to enhancing essential infrastructure and restoring the natural environment. Our team partners with communities across the region on a diverse range of municipal and private projects. As an intern, you will have exposure to projects related to master planning, urban stormwater retrofits, stormwater treatment, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (pipes and open channels), roadway and site drainage, flood hazard mitigation, and river, stream, and wetland restoration. Our scientists and engineers specialize in ecology, wetland science, water quality, wildlife biology, fluvial geomorphology, botany, aquatic biology, and fisheries-offering you a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts known for their innovative solutions and commitment to client service. What You'll Do Collect and analyze data. * Support design efforts for site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. * Assist in preparing construction plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D. * Assist with quantity takeoffs and the preparation of construction cost estimates. * Apply AutoCAD and/or GIS skills to create supporting figures/design documents. * Assist with construction support services. What You Bring * Current college junior, senior, or graduate level student pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. * Strong academic performance and a passion for water resources and environmental engineering. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus. * A well-rounded background, with engagement in academic, professional, and community activities. Our Earth & Environment Team is seeking an Environmental Science Intern - Summer 2025 to work out of our Portland, OR or Bend, OR office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later. This 12-week internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program that is scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible. Your Impact * Support a variety of environmental permitting tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. * Learn basic principles of Environmental Impact Assessment and Clean Water Act Permitting * Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary analysis. * Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. * Complete training on assigned tasks. * Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. * Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. * Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. * Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Who You Are Required Qualifications * Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related, undergraduate program. * Must be 18 years or older. * Demonstrated interest in Environmental Science, renewable energy, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects. * Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. * Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects * Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. * Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. * Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship Preferred Qualifications * Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science or related, master's degree or PhD program. * Experience using Microsoft and Adobe tools. * Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus. The application window for 2025 summer internships is now open! Anchor QEA is currently accepting applications from college students at all levels for eight internship positions at locations across the country with concentrations in health and safety, technology and innovation, engineering, and environmental sciences. The summer internship program is a great opportunity for college students to get experience in their field of study while learning about Anchor QEA. Interns will complete a capstone project under the guidance of senior staff while receiving exposure to other service areas in our firm.
