OSU Energy Efficiency Center hiring for summer interns!

Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-24 hrs/week) and full-time during the summer (30-40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. Dr. Tom Shellhammer's lab in the Food Science & Technology Department has Beer/Hop Lab Technician positions open for this upcoming fall term (2025). These positions will start with training during the spring term and begin work this fall, with opportunities to work during the summer of 2025. This can be a long-term position - once you're in, you can continue working with us until you graduate! So if you are interested, but concerned that you may not have the chemistry skills to take on work in an analytical lab because you are only a sophomore or junior, don't worry! Many now-graduated lab technicians started as sophomores or juniors and continued to work for the lab for two or even three consecutive years. We are looking for driven, focused students with a passion for learning, solid organizational and basic quantitative chemistry skills, and who take pride in their work. We are developing biomanufacturing platforms that are safe, scalable, adaptable to complex DNA payloads, have improved product quality, and are many times more productive than existing systems. We deploy our proprietary technologies in manufacturing services that we offer to a growing base of clients. The role in a nutshell: As a Downstream Process Development Scientist, you will have the freedom (and responsibility) to shape the future of our plasmid purification platform and associated analytics. You’ll lead the charge in designing, evaluating, developing, optimizing, and scaling plasmid purification processes (and maybe protein purification processes in the near future).
