Xiaoli, Great idea for an addition to the AI courses! You might also be interested in the section of AI 539 that I am just finishing now, "Machine Learning Challenges for the Real World", since perhaps you would attract some of the same students. You can see the list of topics and access the syllabus here: https://www.wkiri.com/ai539-w22/ I spent two classes on non-i.i.d. and structured data (with thanks to Rebecca for a great guest lecture!), but it's a much larger topic and I think it will be beneficial to students if you go into more depth. I also devoted one class to active learning, and students were definitely interested in this topic. Hi Kiri, Thanks for the information! Can I have access to your class materials？is it on canvas? If so it would be great if I can be added as an observer. I would love to see what specifically has been discussed. My thought for this class is that we can make this truly a special topics in ml class introducing different modules/topics in different offerings. Xiaoli, I have made you an observer for the class on Canvas. I recommend lectures 8 (non-i.i.d. data), 9 (structured data), and 16 (active learning). Your thoughts and ideas are most welcome! I plan to offer the class again next year and I am always interested in improvements. I think your special topics are definitely important and of interest to the students. You will be able to go into more depth since you are devoting more time to these topics! We can also coordinate for next year and maybe I would swap in some different topics for my class - there were more interesting topics than I could fit in one term!
