Abstract: The City of Portland is developing City surveillance policies that intend to create safeguards on information technology that impacts society. The development of these policies consider ethical, technical, legal, and the human impacts of technology. This presentation will share strategies including governance and political challenges from practical to conceptual, and it will invite you to discuss these issues and the role of technologists in the future of the cities.
Presenter: Hector is the Open Data Coordinator at the City of Portland, Oregon. Hector has led the open data, privacy and surveillance technologies initiatives. His work includes ethical use of technology and the city’s privacy and open data toolkit.
